- Rarely, malignant transformation in selected long-standing tumors (particularly pleomorphic adenoma)

Most patients recover well following parotidectomy.
Recovery typically includes:
- Mild swelling and discomfort during the first few days
- Temporary numbness around the ear
- Drain removal when appropriate
