Botox and Dermal Fillers: Facial Aesthetic Assessment

Facial aesthetic treatments may include botulinum toxin and dermal fillers to address selected facial lines, volume changes and facial asymmetry. Treatment should be individualized according to facial anatomy, muscle activity, skin characteristics and the patient's expectations.

The aim is not to create a standardized appearance, but to plan appropriate treatment while preserving natural facial expression and function.

Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers

Botulinum toxin can be used to temporarily reduce the activity of selected facial muscles and may help soften dynamic facial lines. Dermal fillers may be considered for selected areas where contour or volume support is appropriate.

These procedures are not suitable for every patient. The choice of treatment, injection site and amount should be determined after an individual medical and anatomical assessment.

A Medical Approach to Facial Aesthetics

Facial anatomy and facial nerve function are important considerations when planning procedures involving facial expression. Assessment should therefore consider not only wrinkles or volume, but also facial symmetry, muscle balance and function.

Results, duration of effect and potential risks vary between individuals. A clinical examination is required before deciding whether a procedure is appropriate.
